Abstract
Secret societies have always existed in human society, their forms and operation may vary but the core of all these secret societies is “to claim and to hold the secret knowledge that no one else does.” It is believed that these societies plays an important role in forming a government, in general no government challenges them. However these powers are hypothetical and pure imagination of people influenced by the secret societies. If the perception of people about the secret societies will change they may not be as powerful as they are now in present times. This article will explain the existence of such societies, their formation, their operations and how they gain so much popularity. It will further depict some famous secret societies i.e. Freemasons, Ku Klux Klan, Skull and Bones and Illuminati. Their beliefs and the believers, common things, approach in politics, funding and power.
